Judge Not That Ye Be Not Judged

Let us enter into a discussion concerning one of the more classical utterances of Jesus, contained in the Beatitudes of the New Testament. He said, “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” If we wish to analyze, to the fullest extent, this utterance, it is quite obvious that when He spoke these words, He, no doubt, had in mind a more esoterical meaning, a more complete philosophy, or a more complete objectivism of human conduct than was normally possessed by the average earth man. We cannot conceive, even in our daily life or in any past day or epoch of history, that people, as a whole or individually, could ever have abstained from the process of judging. There is no act in daily life, either past or present, which has not included, in its usual manifestation of the various acts of consciousness, the determinant reactionary motivations of life, which are always predicated upon judgment.

When the housewife goes into the grocery store and purchases articles of food, she selects certain articles on the basis that she believes them to be superior and therefore, renders judgment against those which she believes to be of inferior brand or quality. The same is true with the man who selects an automobile; so we can continue on into this introspection in whatever particular act of consciousness we see going on about us in our daily lives. People are all actively rendering judgment against various and sundry things which appear upon the surface of their lives. This is the common type of reactionary motivation which sustains all different forms of life expressed by the earth man. He knows of no other life, and he is therefore, in this constant interplay of judging and counter-judging, sustaining the common elements of his mental equilibrium, just as he has done through the many thousands of years of his earth life.

The proposition of judging or not being judged also carries other implications which are quite obvious in our analysis; if we think for a moment, this somehow suggests the old law of Moses, “an eye for an eye or a tooth for a tooth;” for in both cases, the objectivism here is, that some particular dispensation or reaction in life will always occur if we do something. This is the basic reactionary concept, and so far as man is concerned, this concept has been constantly motivated by the most carnal of all fears which sustains animal life upon the face of the earth. This is the primitive law of the jungle – the law of survival – the necessity of survival and the inclusion of all artifacts in consciousness which can instigate and continue this survival on to some indefinite date.

We can say that the judging proposition is also another indirect way of determining the so-called law of cause and effect, or casting bread upon the waters, etc.; but at whatever individual analysis we arrive, we will find there are the same basic motivations, the same basic reactions, and the same determinants which do actually motivate the conscious form of all reality of all mankind. If we select and vote for a particular figure, then we are rendering judgment against the other political figure. If we say our democratic system of government such as it is, is superior to the communistic form, we are rendering judgment against those people. Also, we must remember, whenever these judgments are so rendered, that we must consider the fact that we are not determining the value of these judgments as they appear, but we are, in actual reality, setting in motion a whole host of various harmonic wave forms which do tune and retune themselves in many different ways within the structures of our psychic anatomies; this is the true meaning behind the concept of not rendering judgment, and, no doubt, it is that which Jesus had in mind when He spoke these words.

For the implication of rendering judgment on arriving at some personal system of equality will, in all cases, involve the individual in certain negative ramifications. It makes no difference if we reject something because we believe that it is not good, or that it is inferior; it simply means that if we have become conscious of this particular objectivism, this certain thing, and we have become conscious of it in a negative way; we have reacted to it on the common basis of interplays in harmonic attunements and constituents as they have always existed with us; then we have indeed made this a part of us in all cause and effect, despite the fact that we may have consciously rejected it. In this sense then, as we have incepted the configuration of this inferiority within our own mentality, it does, in all effect, re-create its inferiority in these various interplays of harmonic structures, and the effect here is quite similar, in many ways, to that which is obtained when we actually accept this particular thing, whatever it is, without the stigma that it is or is not inferior.

In all cases, the situation is quite the same, the effect is just as pernicious; and in this way we can say we have rendered judgment against ourselves. It is not to be considered, for a moment, that there is some system of spiritual government or some great god who renders this judgment against us on the basis that we are naughty children, that we have done something which is not condoned in the eye of this great god; or that when this act was perpetrated, he made a little mark opposite our names in his book of life. It means in effect, that in this scientific interplay of harmonic structures, which always occur whenever we incept something in consciousness, we always render judgment against ourselves on the basis that it is a nonprogressive entity of consciousness. If it is a constructive or a progressive entity, then we render judgment in favor of ourselves and so conversely elevate ourselves in an equal quotient of expression.

Now, you may wonder how it is possible that you, yourself, or any individual can consciously recognize the various evils and vicissitudes, the interplay of emotionalism which are going on in the world about you today, and yet, not incur these disastrous personal effects of consciousness by recognizing, or reading about these things, or in other manners, ways, and means, sense the interplay of this vast international emotionalism. There is a way in which we can view all of these various and sundry emotional expressions without becoming involved in them, to the degree in which the average earth man is so presently involved.

To the earth man these diverse appearances are all very necessary parts of his life to the extent that they are harmonically attuned, in some manner or form, with numerous past dispensations which he incurred, either in this lifetime or in previous lifetimes. It matters not that they may be called by different names, or that they may involve different kinds of people; the basic principles which instigated these reactionary forms and artifacts are just the same as they have always been. If the average materialist or earth man reacts in the customary or normal way to the different emotional artifacts of his international civilization, of the survival situation, and of his community as a whole, then he has indeed re-created the old emotional content with which he has always been involved.

On the other hand if he has progressed to the point in his evolution where he can see the basic principles and elements which constitute and motivate these reactionary artifacts, he is, in a sense of the word, isolated from them, to the degree, that they do not emotionalize him; they do not harmonically attune him with the various negative quotients of his past, and he can view them introspectively. He can place them in the constructive scale of evolution; he can see that there are the necessary inequalities of existence which supply the necessary drives or libido for humanity as a whole.

The systems of equality, as they are posed in the diverse dispensations of our civilized life, are, in all effect, nonexistent; for equality cannot exist. Equality is a personal proposition in every person’s mind whereby he attempts to equalize the sum and total of his consciousness in relation to the outside world. So far as the outside world is concerned, however, he does not, at any time, arrive at a point in this differentiation process where he can establish an equality. This, in itself, is the determinant qualification in that progressive scale of evolution, for, sooner or later, the individual will begin to arrive at some more definite conclusions in his evolution. In conjunction with various quickenings of the spirit, which he experiences, from time to time, in the spiritual worlds, in the lives in between lives, or various other inspirational values which are constantly recurring in his life, he will then begin to recognize these other basic elements in his daily evolution, and as he learns to recognize them, he will gradually inseminate, in his consciousness, the more basic principles of creative evolution, and he will, as a consequence, gradually cease to become emotionally involved in them, as he was formerly.

As it has been stated before, the system of equality, included as a basic concept in our form of government, is, today, the cause of much racial strife and distortion. It is also the cause of international strife. For the proposition of equality of mankind, is not founded upon such concurrently accepted artifacts of civilization as are contained in the appliances he has in his home, and the manners and ways or differences in his voting systems, or in any of the different aspects of governmental systems which are currently in force in these different countries. The basic and relevant elements which should always be considered in these differences are the progressive basic concepts of evolution which we have discussed. The formation of the individual intellect, as a selective entity, as a functioning entity with Infinite Consciousness, can and does objectify form, motion, action, etc., without the common form of the emotional reaction. It is done in a more intelligent manner and form; it is done constructively because all elements of this interplay of international brotherhood are understood. Instead of saying that all men are born equal, or that they are created equal, we must say that all people, individually and collectively, have their own individual chance to achieve immortality on the same basic frame of reference that we have; and just as we have done, they should be allowed the full interplay of their own consciousness to determine these various aspects of their future – assuming, of course, that these things can be done constructively without intimidating their neighbors in a destructive manner or form.

At this point, we must revert to some of the more elemental principles of life as they are sustained in our present civilization; in our educational systems children are not taught the fundamental and basic aspects of life; there is too much accentuation on the diverse conformities confronting them. There is too much of the rote system whereby each child is forced, so to speak, through the same hole in sort of a universal sieve; he is made a conformist, he is regimented; and in all ways he is taught to act and conduct himself along certain very rigorous lines of demarcation.

This is all well and good up to a certain point, but it does not include the various intangible introspections. It does not include the metaphysical principles of life; it does not include the basic elements of a progressive evolution. No child is taught the full import of his moral responsibility in the scheme of creation. His religious system only vaguely supplants this more esoterical understanding by inflicting upon him the karmic sin of being born in an evil circumstance and the eventual judgment day, etc., another one of these fear-ridden philosophies which are characteristically expressed by mankind as a whole.

More than this, however, the child as he grows up, is constantly being exposed in numerous ways, manners, and forms, to the complete dereliction of his civilization. In many different ways the various emotional vicissitudes of mankind are constantly portrayed and activated upon the surface of his consciousness. Through the movies, TV, etc., he witnesses thousands of murders during his childish years; he cannot console himself with the fact that this is merely a reenactment or a farce. The emotional content of witnessing this murder and its destructive intent, as it is superimposed in the psychic anatomy, is there nevertheless.

It is granted that during the material or earth life phases of incarnation, the average individual does come up against a host of situations which involve the more destructive potential of human expression. But these different emotional vicissitudes and destructive intents should not be made the dominant expressive quotients of life. They should not be made the denominators whereby fame, notoriety, or other personal forms of identification can be exploited to the extent that the child is intimidated by them in forming his own basic course of evolution. Also, when these different emotional vicissitudes are constantly played upon the surface of his consciousness, he is confronted in different manners and forms, in his daily life, with the various pressures of his civilization. The hopeless automation which is usually the heritage of most people who are growing up in the world, the inescapable numbers, manners, and forms of these different interplays, as they are superimposed as negative happenings, in his consciousness – the newspaper accounts, the ways, manners, and forms in which his parents conduct themselves – the systems in which he finds himself involved during the teenage years – his activities in high school and in college – are all dominantly activated by these subconscious conformations, which he has woven for himself, from out of the fabric of this interplay of emotional vicissitudes, which he has witnessed in his growing up period.

Small wonder it is then, that in this present day, crime is rampant; in fact, in the past year, 1960, there was an increase of more than 14 percent of the total number of crimes committed in the United States; and in California, this increase was 21 percent! If we are to continue in this ratio of increase, it is conceivable that in a few years time, everyone will have committed sin and crime to the extent that he has become involved in the law. This is an alarming situation; fortunately the government of the United States does recognize the seriousness of this situation and is spending some time and money in trying to discover various ways in which these evils can be alleviated.

Unfortunately however, despite their well-intended efforts, they quite likely will come to naught unless they can include the progressive elements of constructive evolution which we have presented to you in these Unariun concepts. We must always analyze personal behaviorisms on the basis of what they formerly were in previous lifetimes; we cannot reinstitute various and different ways, manners, and forms of life which will aggravate or reinstate the more negative propensities of consciousness to these individuals. We must have different manners and means to cancel out or to gradually help the individual eliminate them from his own individual consciousness. In short, it means that we must institute some system of personal psychology which can be actively inducted in the early and formative years of the child’s life. Psychically speaking, he can be analyzed on the basis of what he really is. His propensities and attributes, which are constructive in nature, can be emphasized in his future life and the negative indispositions can be more correctly dealt with and reasonably assumed to be more correctly eliminated from their emotional or repercussive effects in his daily life.

Our civilization cannot sustain itself on the currently existing artifacts or the emotional values which are presently in force. To build this country up to its present position was not necessarily mandated by these emotional portrayals of consciousness; there were much stronger and more basic elements of evolution involved in the formation of this country. We have reached a certain point, we shall say, wherein there is a diminishing effect on these stronger values, brought on by the pressures of an enlarged population; the dominant factors which relate to the incarnations of many hundreds of thousands of individuals, who cannot reinstate themselves in a progressive form of evolution, all add to the stresses of our present time.

The picture is indeed complex; it must be dissected individually in order to find out just where each one has erred in forming his way and manner of life; he must include certain constructive dispensations in his future relationships, and he should exclude others because they are destructive. However, at whatever particular dispensation mankind arrives in the future, it is quite likely to be the same destructive and constant never-ending recurrence of the emotional values of his life. He will always be confronted with that never-ending succession of evaluations, based on the emotional plane, whereby he attempts, in general, to equalize the world on the basis of his own personal evaluations. He can also conceivably be so biased and predicated in his evaluation of the Infinite, if he ever arrives at such a point that he can view the Infinite. However, when he does so, he will have had to leave behind these old reactionary evaluations, the ways, manners, and forms of which Jesus spoke, when He uttered those words, “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” For the judgment which each person renders against or for the different values in his life, does surely intimidate him nevertheless. Despite the fact that he may reject them, they are still with him and they will remain with him to the end of his evolution; unless, in placing them correctly in the scale of evolution, he succeeds in evaluating mankind in the scheme of created and re-created regeneration which is the sustaining principle of the Infinite Intelligence.

Let us look for peace of mind in our own hearts and in our own consciousness. The obvious facts have been presented to us in our constructive evaluation of the future, as it is contained in the concept of Infinite Intelligence, and also in our relationship to Infinite Intelligence, as an entity of consciousness which does live beyond the bounds and circumference which man has, in his earth life, circumscribed for himself. We are in form and consciousness immortal, and if we sustain an immortal consciousness, surely, we shall live forever.
